West Lothian Community Wellbeing Hub
The West Lothian Community Wellbeing Hubs are an NHS service for adults (aged 18+) registered with a West Lothian GP practice who are experiencing mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low confidence and stress.
The Hubs are staffed by NHS therapists who work in partnership with a team of Community Link Workers employed by Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health (LAMH). They provide emotional support and relevant services based on your individual care needs, in order to help you make progress toward feeling better.
There are two Community Wellbeing Hubs available:
- Boghall Community Wellbeing Hub (01506 652 267) – Elizabeth Drive, Boghall, EH48 1SJ
- Livingston Community Wellbeing Hub (01506 524 408) – The Residencies, St. John’s Hospital, EH54 6PP
The Hubs are open Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM, with new patient registration sessions available between 9:00AM – 4:00PM. To access the Hubs, please contact the practice first for a routine appointment. We can then signpost you to the Hubs.
West Lothian Drug & Alcohol Service (WLDAS)
The West Lothian Drug & Alcohol Services (WLDAS) is an NHS-supported registered charity and a member organisation of the West Lothian Addiction Care Partnership. Its aim is to reduce harm caused by drugs, alcohol and tobacco to West Lothian residents and communities.
WLDAS provides services to adults and young people – including one-to-one therapeutic support services and counselling to individuals, family members, carers and loved ones who are affected by the use of alcohol and drugs in the West Lothian area – as well as education, training and outreach programmes.
WLDAS runs a number of drop-in clinics:
- Monday: 9:00AM – 12:00PM, Bathgate Health Centre
- Tuesday: 1:00PM – 4:00PM, Howden Health Centre
- Wednesday: 1:00PM – 4:00PM, Strathbrock Partnership Centre
- Thursday: 11:30AM – 2:30PM, Whitburn Health Centre
- Friday:
- 9:00AM – 12:00PM, Blackburn Health Centre
- 1:30PM – 3:30PM, Armadale Community Clinic (non-prescribing)

West Space
West Space is an online space for mental health and wellbeing information in West Lothian. It aims to provide information about locally available mental health and wellbeing services, online resources and materials to support self-help and self-management, and a platform to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in people living and/or working in West Lothian.
West Space is managed by Health in Mind, a Scottish-based mental health and wellbeing charity that supports people and communities across West Lothian.
Breathing Space
Breathing Space is a national phone line providing free confidential support services for anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety.
Breathing Space’s call advisors come from a range of mental health, counselling and social work backgrounds. Their services are funded by the Scottish Government’s Mental Health Unit, and they are operationally managed by NHS 24 and delivered from NHS 24 contact centres in Hillington and South Queensferry.
Breathing Space’s phone line is open from Monday to Thursday, 6:00PM – 2:00AM, and on weekends from Friday 6:00PM to Monday 6:00AM. Their online chat service is available Monday to Friday, 6:00PM – 2:00AM, and on Saturday and Sunday, 4.00PM – 12:00AM.

Health in Mind
Health in Mind is a Scottish charity that provides support for a range of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression and trauma. Their services range from early intervention and prevention through to more intensive support. Additionally, their website contains online self-help resources and campaigns that extend across Scotland.
Health in Mind is a key part of the In Care Survivors Alliance, Scotland’s first alliancing partnership, which provides support for survivors of in-care abuse and/or neglect in Scotland.
Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP)
The Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP) provides professional independent advocacy services for anyone who has, or has had in the past, a mental health or addiction problem, and who lives in or is receiving treatment in West Lothian. The project also provides advocacy services to HMP Addiewell.
People may need advocacy to help them speak to professionals such as doctors, nurses, lawyers and social workers. Advocacy can support people in meetings and appointments with written communication or to help locate information or services.
Lifelink
Lifelink is a charity registered in Scotland. They are an early intervention service offering support for adults and young people experiencing emotional difficulties to prevent escalation, focusing on mild to moderate mental health issues like anxiety, depression and low mood.
Lifelink provides one-to-one mental health and wellbeing counselling services following a clinical assessment. Counselling can be face-to-face or remote, depending on your personal preferences.
In addition to counselling, Lifelink is the service provider for the Scottish Government Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) scheme in Lanarkshire. They also offer a range of wellbeing classes and workplace wellbeing support. To self-refer to Lifelink’s services, call them or select “Make a Referral” on their website. Once you send your self-referral through, one of their team members will aim to get back to you within 3 business days.

Samaritans is a UK-based registered charity that offers free, confidential emotional support and listening services to anyone in distress or experiencing suicidal ideation. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
